The Factory in a Modern Industrial Organization: History, Information Systems, and Technical Education in Europe (19th–21st Century)

Anotace anglicky

The project examines the development of information structures in industrial production in Europe, particularly in France and the Czech Republic, from the turn of the 20th century to the present. Information structures are understood as interconnected organizational, engineering, communication, and knowledge mechanisms enabling production management, transfer of technological know-how, and coordination of work processes across different political-economic systems in Western and Central Europe. The project Factory in Modern Industrial Organization: History, Information Systems and Technical Education in Europe (19th–21st Centuries) addresses challenges linked to digitalization, automation, artificial intelligence, and Industry 4.0, which increase the need to understand the historical development of organizational and knowledge systems. It provides insight into long-term processes shaping European industry and education and supports critical reflection on technological and institutional change. In the context of sustainable production, labor market change, and the evolving role of technical education, the project emphasizes the importance of historical analysis for understanding relations between education, state industrial policy, and corporate management. A comparison of French and Czech developments enables analysis of different patterns of technological adaptation. The project contributes to the history of industry and technical education and offers innovative potential for economic policy, industrial strategy, and educational reform. Its interdisciplinary approach connects historical knowledge with current decision-making needs, including human resources, digital infrastructure, and knowledge transfer. Results may inform the development of technical and engineering curricula responding to rapid technological change and labor market needs. The project bridges past and future European industry and education and extends beyond academia toward practical application.
