Anotace anglicky

To enhance and enrich existing information on the topic through basic research in archives, museums, galleries and private collections that are located primarily in the Czech Republic. To put together a comprehensive overview of the phenomenon of emigration as whole based on modern research in field of cultural history and national identity. This aim supposes the introducing of the phenomenon of interwar exile in a wide spectrum of aspects, and focusing on fields of research that to date have not been a subject of interest and which offer a potential for new knowledge, such as the activities of non-Russian émigrés, a description of the everyday life of émigrés, their work in the field of cinema and theatre, the fates of visual artists in exile. To present the topic to the general public through an exhibition and an accompanying programme. With means like an attractive visual concept and unique exhibits, the project will contribute to the changing of the general perception of emigration from former tsarist Russia and will offer an image that is based upon research and that is free from ideological stereotypes. The exhibition will contribute to the enrichment of our knowledge of the Czechoslovak First Republic regarding the Russian and Ukrainian diaspora, which forms a significant part of a cultural history and identity not only for the Czech Republic, but also for other countries of Europe and the Americas. To offer scholary reflection on the new discoveries made through the new research in the form of an exhibition catalogue and an international conference. The aim of the conference will be to encourage research on aspects concerning migration from tsarist Russia to Czechoslovakia. The event will also allow for the presentation of the rich archival resources and collections related to the topic available in our region which have not perhaps yet been fully utilized, as well as act as a platform for an international exchange of results of the research.

Projekt řešil jev meziválečné emigrace v širokém spektru aspektů, jako aktivity emigrantů neruských národností, popis každodenního života příslušníků emigrace, zkoumání jejich činnosti v oblasti divadla a filmu, osudy výtvarných umělců-emigrantů, činnost technické inteligence aj. Přitažlivou formou (atraktivní výtvarné zpracování, jedinečné exponáty) výstavní projekt přispěl ke změně obecného povědomí o podobě migrace ze zemí bývalého carského Ruska a nabídl vědecky podložený obraz oproštěný od ideologických interpretací a předsudků. Informačně různorodý potenciál výstavy významně přispěl k obohacení tradičního obrazu první republiky o fenomén ruské a ukrajinské diaspory, která tvoří významnou část kulturní historie a identity nejen České republiky, ale i dalších států Evropy a Ameriky. Ve své odborné části projekt nabídl možnost vědecké reflexe nových poznatků formou dvou knih a v rámci mezinárodní vědecké konference.
