The Technical Intelligentsia in the Czech Lands and in Czechoslovakia in 1707–1950

Anotace anglicky

The aim of this project is to create a specialised public-access database in the form of a permanent source of information and resources, which will allow users to do the following: a) Gather, preserve and thoroughly analyse extensive unique information and data, relating to the history of technical education and technical research; b) Survey institutional and personal links in technical research in Czech lands and Czechoslovakia in the relevant period, i.e. the establishment of a network of scientific research institutions which focus on technical disciplines through their HR resources; these networks will be programmed across all database items; c) Describe the changes in the social and scientific status of the leaders of the technical intelligentsia, i.e. graduates in technical disciplines from universities in the Czech lands and Czechoslovakia, or scientists and pedagogues involved in education and research at Czech/Czechoslovak technical universities, from the beginnings of the first technically oriented university in the Czech lands in 1707 until the first years after the end of the Second World War; d) Describe as yet neglected topics, such as women and the technical sciences, the technical intelligentsia and national economy, the technical intelligentsia and politics, the importance of technical history, educational reforms of technical universities, relations between the technical universities and other technically oriented research institutes, in the form of final monograph.
