Traces of traditional farming in industrially, agriculturally and recreationally intensively used regions: their identification, documentation, protection and possibilities of use

Anotace anglicky

The main goal of the project is to summarize information in the field of applied research of national and cultural identity with a focus on mapping the relics of historical economic activity of man on the soil. This is a new approach - linking agriculture, forestry, water management, landscape architecture or selected industries along with history, archeology, historic preservation and museology. Objectives (1): to identify, document and present (a) land use constructions (farmsteads, yards) and other rural economic and technical constructions; (b) relics of the organization of the land resources related to agriculture, or special-purpose roads leading to the center of distribution; (c) native species and varieties of plants still noticed in forests, orchards and gardens or more remote areas; (d) the original livestock breeds; finally (e) agricultural systems, i.e. the relationship between plants, animals and soil - the aim will be to identify traces of specific production focus of agricultural plants in the organization of both the land resources and the buildings. The following outputs will be produced under objective (2): two certified methodologies (the first will focus on methods of identification and documentation of relics, the second will focus on the presentation of traces of historical forms of land cultivation and management. The dissemination of knowledge will be ensured by a scientific conference and an exhibition with a critical catalogue. A functional sample of planting regional and old fruit varieties found in the examined regions will be implemented in the Kačina chateau complex. The project will help deepen cooperation between museologists, farmers, foresters and water managers. The outputs of the project will lead to the support of care for the traces of old farming forms in the field within the protection and management of cultural heritage.
