Important and unresolved topics of landscape architecture

Landscape architecture is a field with a very broad scope, dealing with topics ranging from the examination of the historical development of monuments of garden art, to the establishment of individual components of works of landscape architecture, to the care and development of entire objects of landscape architecture, to the planning of the future form and habitability of human settlements. In addition to the main topics of the field, which have received long-term attention in scientific research, there are important topics that receive only marginal or no attention at all. It is the set of these topics that is the subject of this project. The project is designed as a collection of important and yet unresolved, seemingly unrelated topics in landscape architecture. The common characteristic of these topics is, besides their contribution to the formation of the national and cultural identity of the form of our gardens, parks, towns and surrounding landscape, their undeniable importance for the state heritage conservation and, above all, for the sustainable development of landscape architecture in general. These are the topics: (1) Spa park as a Czech-Slovak phenomenon; (2) To the roots of landscape architecture; (3) Forest as a part of urban composition of settlements; (4) Trees for the future. The absence of applied research in these topics may lead to a lack of recognition of the values and importance that these topics represent for society and its national and cultural identity. Thus, the aim of the project is in the four presented topics: (1) to describe, document and interpret their significance and values; (2) to describe the possibilities of their preservation, protection and conceptual care; (3) to propose the possibilities of using the findings in the further development of these values and their applied use in practice. To achieve these objectives, a total of 36 outputs are proposed, of which 18 are applied outputs.
