Anotace anglicky

The general aim of the project ?Extending the National Information Infrastructure for R&D in Regions? (eIGeR) is to establish a regional foundation of complex national e-infrastructure for R&D in Czech Republic which will include all integral parts necessary for providing services with high added value, such as: - increasing throughput of current communications infrastructure, expanding its functionality and features using advanced network devices; - increasing the capacity of access interfaces; - expanding the NGI (National Grid Infrastructure) system by enhancing the computional ability of MetaCentrum (computational grid which is operated by the CESNET Association) - this additional computational capacity will be integrated into the NGI; - establishing three high-capacity data storage centres which will enable storing and sharing big amounts of data as well as its mid- and long-term archivation; these data storages will become a basis of a national integrated data storage system; - increasing the capacity of and enhancing the videoconferencing infrastructure. New e-infrastructure will conform to all expected requirements concerning volume, contents and character of data communications in near future (with special regard to emerging research regional infrastructures and their incorporation into the European Research Area). This new e-infrastructure will provide services to at least 60 R&D organizations or to their research infrastructures in regions at the end of the project. In addition to emerging projects and organizations, this concerns also the institutions which are connected to the current CESNET2 network; they will become users of the newly built complex e-infrastructure when the project finishes.

Zhodnocení výsledků projektu

Hlavním cílem projektu „Rozšíření národní informační infrastruktury pro VaV v regionech“ bylo vybudování regionálního základu komplexní národní e-infrastruktury pro VaV v ČR, která v sobě zahrnuje všechny integrální složky nezbytné pro poskytování služeb s vysokou přidanou hodnotou. Cíl byl dosažen.
