Possibilities of utilization of coal-ash from power stations stored at stock piles

Anotace anglicky

The aim of this project is to verify the possibilities of utilization of deposited coal combustion products (CCP), in particular high temperature fly ash, deposited on lanf fills at thermal power plants belonging to the CEZ Group, with the assumption of necessary treatment processes of ash. Adjusted deposited ash should be used mainly in the building industry for the concrete production (according to CSN EN 450-1), cement (according to CSN EN 197-1) as well as in road construction (backfills, embankments according to TP 93). Ash bestos as a additive in concrete and cement is irreplaceable in certain directions, especially in reducing moisture heat during concrete hardening and resistance to alkaline siliceous aggregate reaction in concrete. In the first stage, it will be necessary to verify the properties of the ash deposited in terms of its possible chemical transformation and the existing physical and mechanical properties. The second step will be to build and optimize existing industrial treatment facilities (drying, mechanical grinding and crushing, magnetic separation, air separation and sorting). In the last stage, it will be necessary to verify the properties of the obtained material in real building materials and structures (especially concrete). The main objective is to keep ashes available for construction, both in the quality defined by the standards and under economic conditions, as the ash is becoming a scarce resource not only globally but also in the Czech Republic. Moreover, the technology of extraction of deposited fly ash allows the acquisition of raw material, which is qualitatively guaranteed, unlike when due to the insufficiently dimensioned repulsion technology and due to the installation of greening technologies on conventional coal combustion units, deviations from the standard parameters can be avoided and maintaining quality by controlling the production quality is very Complicated and costly.
