Funkcionalization of protective clothing by application of finishing systems and their service life prolongation by reactivation of effects in laundry service and by replacement of pure cotton by blend fiber constructions

Anotace anglicky

The aim of the project is functionalization of clothing and reactivation of barrier effects by laundry processing. The functionalization of the goods lead to added value increase by barrier effects addition to protective working clothing, bedlinen, etc. (flame retardancy, soil-release, antimicrobial effect). Reactivation of the effects after determined number of maintenance cycles will result in a substantial prolongation of the service-life of the garment which had to be otherwise replaced by new clothing. Moreover, In case of soil-release finishing systems the clothing from industrial, food and gastro sectors will be less damaged after repeated maintenance cycles due to their reduced pollution by coloured and greasy stains which will enable to wash the goods under milder conditions, i.e. at lower temperatures, without aggressive chemicals. The washing cycles will be then shortened together with water and energy saving, waste-water volume and loading reduction. Another factor leading to the substantial service life prolongation will be the replacement of pure cotton constructions by blend cotton/polyester materials. Advantages of the both types of fibres will be utilized: the cotton fibre will ensure the physiological comfort, the polyester fibre will guarantee the high mechanical resistance and enhanced sweat transport. The prolongation of the service life of textiles by reactivation of the functional effects, milder maintenance regimes, and utilization of blend construction will lead in the leasing laundry conditions to substantial cutting of textile materials / clothing costs due to the dematerialization (reduced amount of garments with at the high added value and prolonged service-life) and laundry service costs. Except the material and energy saving, the laundry reactivation of functional effects will result in increase of competitiveness of the leasing laundry company as a result of the increased service life of the functionalized textile products.
