Anotace anglicky

The project aims to study the old Tibetan texts called Nyen Collection (Tib. Gnyan 'bum). Three versions of these rare texts are available in the exemplars of different wordings and extent. The most extensive version is written on 167 folios of middle size format of Tibetan books. The texts are extremely difficult to read, they are characterized by an abrupt style, discontinuity, phonetic rendering of the words, archaic and unknown expressions. These texts contain series of myths of Nyen (Nyen) and original people. Nyen are beings dwelling in the space between the earth and sky (Tib. bar snang), who often represent the natural environment. The project attempts to use the opportunity of existence of three versions of these texts, which could elucidate the cultural background of pre-Buddhist Tibet in general and the origin and meaning of these texts in particular. The texts contain also some names given both in Tibetan and undeciphered language of Nam. It could thus bring some progress in the better understanding of this language.
