Manipulative and dominance strategies in conflicts of romantic couples with normal personality profil and with avoidant personality

Anotace anglicky

Situational dominance can be aquired both by direct dominance strategies (coercion or prosocial str.), and by manipulative behavior. Evolutionary theory predicts that the role of manipulation can be high in case of romantic partners and can be also an important factor in terms of relationship satisfaction. An extrem rate of use of manipulative strategies can be expected in partners with personality disorder, e.g., avoidant strategy in respective personality disorder. The proposed project uses behavioral analysis of long-term romantic couples with avoidant personality in one partner, in non-clinical romantic couples and in dyads composed of opposite-sex strangers. The dyads will be tested with two interactive procedures comprising of solving a dispute (Picture sorting, Relationship drama) and by a set of questionnaires. Using both qualitative and quantitative analysis of behavior, we will identify dominance and manipulative strategies of participans and establish their association with partner acquaintence, personality pathology, romantic satisfaction, gender and power in partners.
