The proposed project aims to examine and analyze different aspects of the building program of King Natakamani and Queen Amanitore (and princes associated with the royal couple) in Kush in general and at the archaeological site of Wad Ben Naga in particular. The first part of the project shall focus on the multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary analysis of the building program of Natakamani and Amanitore based on the newly discovered archaeological evidence (not only from Wad Ben Naga). The second part of the project shall focus on excavations of several structures built or restored by Natakamani and Amanitore at the archaeological site of Wad Ben Naga, namely the so-called Isis Temple (WBN 300) and the structure WBN 250 and, as well as a survey of the site of Jebel Qeili focused on the documentation of the rock drawing of Prince Shorakaror located close to the cave-chapel in the mountain. The project stems from the long-term international cooperation between the applicant, the Sudanese National Corporation for Antiquities and Museums and other expeditions working in the Sudan.
