Anotace anglicky

This project focuses on the founding figures of Czech Slavonic history studies: Jaroslav Bidlo (1868) and Milada Paulová (1890-1970). It explore their paths in life, their careers, work, and bibliography, their international contacts, and above all their role within the broader context of the evolution of Czech humanities, as well as their importance within the European context. These two figures are being connected together within this project because of the large role that their relationship and direct successorship played in their careers and, to some extent, also their specializations: Paulová was Bidlo´s student, and after his death, she was essentially passed the torch of teaching the history of Central and Eastern Europe at the Charles University Faculty of Arts. She was also the first Czech assistant professor, and later professor, and so this project involves not only the history of historiography, scholarship, and university education, but also gender studies as well.
