Reception of Alexandrine Exegetical Principles between East and West

Anotace anglicky

The Project aims at the research of the role of the idea of the Word/Logos, Principle/Arche, and Wisdom/Sophia in the theology and biblical interpretation of the Alexandrine authors, such as Philo, Origen, Eusebius of Caesarea, Gregory of Nyssa, and Ambrose of Milan. These authors creatively intertwine the exegetical and theological principles, and these principles influence and condition each other. The idea of the Logos and the Principle/Beginning influenced, especially in its Christological interpretation, the theological thought and history of the interpretation of the Bible in the third and fourth centuries and established a basis for the future theological reflection in the East and the West. The Project is going to examine mutual influences of the authors as mentioned above, their contribution, and the evolution of the problematic in the following areas: the beginning of the world and its creation by the Logos, theological discussion on Christ as Beginning and Word, exegetical principles, and the esthetic theology of the creation.
