The spread of cultural elements from the Mesopotamian centers to the peripheries (3rd-2nd mill. BC) represents a key moment in the cultural and language history of the ancient Near East. This complex and multilayered process can be viewed from many angles, but it is always a cultural transfer. The dissemination of cuneiform writing, which was a tool for the transmission of cultural and literary traditions in several languages, played a fundamental role in this process. In terms of structure, we can observe three closely interconnected levels in this process, the joint interpretation of which will allow us to take a comprehensive view of the subject. The first level is technological; it deals with the transmission of the written record itself, the tradition, and the transformation of school texts. In the second level we can talk about linguistic transmission, that is, how the Mesopotamian languages (Akkadian, Sumerian) were spread in the realm of the western peripheries. The third level shows us the transmission of literary traditions, their transformation, and their role in society.
