Anotace anglicky

In the Czech population there are relatively more ‘climate sceptics’ than is typical for developed European countries. This project aims to generate insights that will enable an understanding of people’s attitudes and, especially, their willingness to change established practices in the context of climate change. The research focuses on the agricultural sector. Social and political demands to improve the resilience of agriculture are confronted with cultural dispositions on the side of farmers that create potential barriers to transitioning agriculture. The theoretical framework for examining actors’ behaviour draws on the concepts of habitus and field. Special attention is paid to the question of continuity and change of habitus based on the subjective and objective impacts of climate change on farmers’ practices. The research includes both sociological and socio-geographical dimensions. The goal of the project is to explore farmers’ strategies and to identify the specific conditions under which the transformation of collectively shared dispositions on the part of farmers occurs.
