„Neuböhmen" in the Transformations of the Bohemian Crown in the Late Middle Ages

Anotace anglicky

Over past decades, the formation of the Bohemian Crown as a dynastic union has repeatedly appeared in reflections on legal principles of the late medieval state and its legacy for early modern period. Most attention has been paid to Lusatia and Silesia. In case of Bohemian Upper Palatinate (known also as Neuböhmen), the research concerned mostly on its acquisition by Charles IV and his decrees regarding its incorporation within the Lands of the Bohemian Crown. The relations between the Kingdom of Bohemia and Neuböhmen after 1373 is one of less explored topics. It is essential to analyse the still unknown history of Neuböhmen and map the fates of local Bohemian dependencies in late Middle Ages. The longer time perspective will facilitate exploration of the development of Neuböhmen within the changing socio-political circumstances. The project will also comment on relations between the Bohemian kings and the Wittelsbachs, monitor transformations of administration and contacts among the local elites and reflect on the region's affiliation to the Bohemian Crown in historical memory.
