Dynamic ranking and scoring
Anotace anglicky
Ranking is a permutation of the universum of sport teams, universities, racing horses, countries, academic journals or CSF projects (for example) giving an ordering from the best one to the worst one. The property of ranking is: if Team A is the 1st and B is the 2nd, we have no idea whether A is better "a lot" or "just a little" than B. This information is available in scoring: a team is equipped with a score, a value between 0 and 1, and the ranking results from sorting the teams by their scores. This project investigates rankings and scorings as stochastic objects that change in time and the changes are driven by a particular data-generating process. (This differs essentially from the mainstream OR research of rankings, such as DEA.) The dynamics is driven by unobservable factors estimated and explained by the model. The project aims at development of new models for dynamic scorings and rankings, including estimation techniques, efficient optimization algorithms for the estimation and empirical applications, e.g. in sport statistics or credit scoring of clients in banking.
