Anotace anglicky

The project aims to prepare a monograph comprising and analysing the activities of Severin-Kosořský printing house in Prague between 1488 and 1557 as one of the most important book printing centres in the Lands of Bohemian Crown. On the background of life stories of related printers (printer of Prague Bible - Pavel Severin of Kapí Hora - Jan Severin, Junior - Jan Kosořský of Kosoř) the proposer wants to deal with the first most productive Bohemian printing workshop connected to its own graphic studio, enlighten the long continuous period of four generations of craftsmen and artists on the turn of the late Middle Ages to Renaissance and supply unique material for further studies of culture before 1620 (especially the promotion of Humanist and Reformation thinking, laicization of profane motifs, constitution of specialized prose and development of book illustration). The main output of the project will be a monograph with the same name, supplemented by the first complete register of Severin-Kosořský printing house's activities and also by extensive, yet unpublished image material. That will arise from the systematic digitisation of Severin's production and become a part of a commonly accessible digital repertory. In a way, it will be an introduction tothe history of Bohemian book printing in Central Europe between 1476 and 1547.
