Anotace anglicky

The beginning of the new millenium is connected with the rise of the left wing parties in many Latin American countries: Venezuela, Uruguay, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, Brazil, Argentine, Peru, Nicaragua, Costa Rika. At the same time, it is clear, that thenew regimes, respectively new governments differed from each other, the character has it impact among others also on the prospects for the stability of democracy. Comparing with the previous left wing regimes it is important to stress that the new governments and regimes gained power through democratic elections. The project would try to verify several hypothoses, mainly, if a shift to the left corresponds with the traditional situation in Latin America, when the subcontinent more or less shares commonsocial, cultural, economic and political characteristics; if the rise of the left is the reaction to the processes of neoliberal modernization of Latin America; if it is the reaction to the limits that emerged from the transactional character of the transition to democracy. Part of the project will be synchronic and dyachronic comparison of the left wing regimes and governments that will end in the proposal of typology of the left wing regimes and governments.
