Austrian Drama from 1960 to 2000

Anotace anglicky

The contemporary Austrian drama is one of the most significant phenomena of the European theatre of the second half of the twentieth century. Its influence on the Austrian cultural and theatre context dates back to the 1960's. This is the time of the"spoken plays" by Peter Handke, the time of the group of artists in Forum Stadtpark and the circle of the journal manuscripte in Graz. Wolfgang Bauer and Petr Turini started to write at this time, Elfride Jelinek and Ernst Jandl an author experimentingwith language, started a decade later. Also Thomas Bernhard started to write plays in 70's. A generation younger Werner Schwab studied in Graz visual arts at this time. The poetics of these authors which is getting radical and "brutal" in 80's and 90'sbecame together with the works of Thomas Bernhard an essential literary testimony about our world, which is like after an internal catastrophe which made questionnable the traditional notion of a man, human world and european civilisation and culture.
