History of the Czech Film Thought - an Anthology

Anotace anglicky

The aim of the project is to compile and publish an anthology of Czech film theory up to the year 1950 in two language versions, Czech and English. We were encouraged to embark upon this project by foreign specialists: professor T. Gunning and J. Mekas.The project reflects current development in international research (new film history, media archaeology), which examines film in the context of intermedial relations, with special focus on early cinema. The selection of texts for the anthology will be governed by these new scientific requirements and the criteria of historical significance. First of all, the existing plan for the anthology's content proposed by J. Anděl will be revised, together with a study of unpublished texts. All source material will be critically examined, the English translation will be carried out by a specially chosen translator and edited in association with American specialists.
