Czech actor s art and 1945 generation

Anotace anglicky

An essential imprint in the development of Czech performing (theatre and film) art has been made by the exceptionally strong generation of actors of the immediate post world war II. period. These actors still had the opportunity to meet the directors ofthe Czech avant-garde, and together with the directors of their own generation they were forced to confront the sudden changes to the institutional framework in which they carried out their activities, as well as other strong ideological pressures of theday. The peripeteia of this struggle resulted in a series of not only historical but also theoretical questions (the role of the actor in the changing structure of theatre and film between "modernism" and "realism", "natural" and "forced" stylistic transformations, generational starting points and realistic chances of implementing them, etc.) In order to provide a serious reply to these questions it is necessary to gather documentation, including personal testimonies of those artists, whose careers
