Forms and Manners of Acting

Anotace anglicky

The forms of the project is to research the forms and manners of acting (especially of western, European-style acting) and the related issues that have suddenly and prominently been pushed into the foreground at a time when anything can become a stage, when it seems that the difference between acting is being erased to an ever greater degree. The research will focus on the central question of what they have, or at least can have in common and how they differ (fundamentally); the answer will take into account both theatrological and psychological aspects, at synchronous and diachronous levels, aware, of course, of the existence of a broad spectrum of ways in various types of performing activities. As for the diachronous aspect, a more thorough investigation of the subject should be facilitated by a new approach to the development of Czech acting, interpreted in the context of a new approach to the development of western/European acting; as for the synchronous aspect - research of this aspect would be inconceivable without posing the basic questions relating to the aptitude for acting; investigation of the latter requires the joint application of psychology with theatrology and practical experience, both in teaching and cultivation of a talent for acting at a drama school, and in work with actors in the theatre.
