The spas and balneology in the Czech Republic in the context of the world balneology development

Anotace anglicky

The preserved structures of our most significant health resorts are of irreplaceable value from the standpoints of both medical therapy and of history, architecture and national monuments and are thus a unique part of the world architectural heritage ofhuman civilization. Particularly in the second half of the 19th and in the beginning of 20th centuries the spas and resorts in this area recorded exceptional development; however in spite of this the architecture that is so typical of spas has rarely been the subject of detailed analyses. The lack of knowledge should be rectified by the proposed project, the aim of which is to analyze the spa resorts in the Czech Republic from the standpoints of architectural history and the development of capturing thethermal springs, their medicinal and non-medicinal usage and the manner in which the individual cures are administered since the method of the therapeutic procedures determined the architectural form of the spa facilities and buildings. The project is based on both a study of archive sources and field surveys in selected locations. The collected written and pictorial material should also be available in a digitalized. The comprehensiveness of the project's solution also lies in strengthening pan-European awareness and the cultural ties of individual regions with the recognition of the historical associations.

Projekt se stal východiskem kooperace se zahraničními pracovišti zaměřujícími se na výzkum historického lázeňského dědictví a jeho ochranu a nabyl jak interdisciplinární, tak i mezinárodní povahy. V přípravě je syntetická monografie s obrazovou přílohou?
