Jaroslav Charvát and Czech Marxist Historiography

Anotace anglicky

It is focused on the study of historiography during the totalitarian period, of the context of Czech historiography transformations in 1948-1989. The scanty research of Czechoslovak Marxist historiography conducted so far has reflected several personalities of the pre-dogmatic phase and selected personalities of the developed dogmatic phase of the historiography, however a view seeing Czechoslovak historiography as a result of Soviet export of the Marxist-Leninist ideology into the former Eastern Block- i.e. the establishment of the dogmatic Marxist historiography around 1948 - has been omitted completely. It was historians of the so-called Historical Group who played the leading role in this respect, whereas a relatively complete heuristic basis canbe found only in resources pertaining to J. Charvát, who will thus be the representative person for the research clarifying, on a biographical basis, the penetrations of those historians into the mainstream historiography after the
