Anotace anglicky

In studies that consider trophic interactions, pest control efficiency or predation rates, gut content analyses are widely used as an invaluable tool. Since many invertebrate predators regularly scavenge and gut content analyses are not able to distinguish between scavenging and true predation, this approach could potentially lead to overestimation of the impact of predation or even to identification of false trophic interactions.Aims of the project:a) Identification of principal scavengers of invertebrate carcases, estimation of intra and interseasonal changes in their species composition.b) Assessment of the influence of carrion and habitat type on the species composition of the scavengers.c) Estimation of the significance of scavenging in the diet of recorded species.d) Assessment of the intensity of scavenhing and it´s intra and interseasonal changes in different habitats e) Estimation of the availability of moribund and dead prey for the scavengersf) Development and usage of new UV-fluorescence detection based gut content analysis method
