Baroque Architecture in Bohemia

Anotace anglicky

Baroque architecture belongs among the greatest achievements in fine art in Bohemia. During the last few years it has been the subject of ongoing interest for both local and foreign scholars. Attention has been paid primarily to the greatest architects, father and son Dientzenhofers and J. B. Santini.Synthetic works about Bohemian Baroque architecture by O. Stefan and H. G. Franz (around 1960) described its history as a development from the beginnings of Baroque style to the greatest achievements in the first half of the 18th century. The academic activity in the following years considerably enlarged the knowledge about the subject, especially in the 1980s in synthetics works of V. Naňková, M. Vilímková, and M. Horyna.Further fundamental expansion of the knowledge has been brought about in the last two decades. A considerable role been played by the numerous theses and dissertations presented at Charles University. In the context of new findings, there is a clear necessity of new general research about the Bohemian Baroque architecture and its relationship with Italian and Central European architecture. The outcome will be a synthesis of Bohemian Baroque architecture in a large monograph provided with solid documentation, which will become a key work in the context of contemporary research on European architecture in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Odborný přínos projektu není možné hodnotit vzhledem k tomu, že hlavní výstup (monografie o barokní architektuře) dosud nebyl publikován. Výstup grantu tedy v této chvíli neexistuje. Finance nebyly dočerpány.
