Anotace anglicky

The aim of the project is to research Central European art around 1400 in the context of medieval networks (economic, social, religious, artistic) with an emphasis on the role of Prague as an art market and export centre. It will focus on the dissemination of artworks of the "Bohemian beautiful style", especially in the Hanseatic cities. It will explain the reasons for their popularity, import and influence through material, technological and stylistic comparative research. The project reaches into the interdisciplinary field of medieval history, archival research and art history and will deepen the study of artefacts through a largely non-invasive research on the material and technology of the artworks (petrography, X-ray spectroscopy, NIR/UV, microscope). The significance of the project lies in the combination of regional research perspectives in order to obtain (for the first time in the collaboration of an international team) a comprehensive and concrete source panorama of the role of the Luxembourg metropolis in the culture of Central Europe.
