Anotace anglicky

Fire was crucial in prehistoric societies, shaping technological innovations, subsistence strategies and social structures. While fire use in the Middle Paleolithic is well-studied, pyrotechnological practices among Anatomically Modern Humans (AMH) remain underexplored, with no comprehensive studies from Central Europe addressing this topic. This project applies a multi-proxy approach to examine combustion features from the Upper Paleolithic to the Mesolithic, integrating micromorphology, geochemistry, biochemistry and archaeobotany. By reconstructing formation processes, fire-related activities, assessing fuel selection, and analyzing environmental conditions, the study will provide new insights into human adaptation and responses to shifting climatic conditions from the glacial to interglacial period. A comprehensive database will enable large-scale comparative analyses, refining interpretations of combustion features across different contexts. The findings will contribute to broader discussions on prehistoric pyrotechnology, addressing key gaps in research on AMH fire use.
