Moscow 1937 - Architecture and Propaganda from the Western Perspective

Anotace anglicky

The project focuses on an analysis of the 1st All-Union Congress of Soviet Architects, which took place in Moscow in 1937. The event became the first significant international platform, at which the departure of Soviet architecture from avant-garde forms and the subsequent tendency towards historicising stylistic expressions were intensively discussed. The importance of the entire event was enhanced by the invitations to foremost foreign architects, who appeared there and were subsequently called upon to submit their written testimony . The work therefore focuses on the gathering and an analysis of the relevant texts, predominantly in the written legacies of F. L. Wright, P. Janák. Based on the confrontation and analysis of the preserved texts, the reception of Soviet architecture of the second half of the 1930s will be critically interpreted. For the given aims, recent art-historical methods will be applied in the socio-cultural, ideological and political context.

Zhodnocení výsledků projektu

Projekt nakonec vyústil v knižní publikaci k tématu. Tato publikace ale nesplňuje standardní kritéria vědecké monografie ani neobsahuje řádnou dedikaci. Kromě ní řešitelka publikovala pouze jeden plánovaný článek v časopise, a to v češtině, nikoli v angličtině. Projekt se věnoval dosud opomíjené kapitole dějin evropské architektury, ale nesplnil všechny autorkou stanovené cíle.
