Restitutional Efforts of The Kingdom of Bohemia Nobility Punished with the Post-White Mountain Confiscations

Anotace anglicky

The project analyzes restitutional efforts of the Kingdom of Bohemia nobility punished with the post-White Mountain confiscations. The subject-matter is approached through representative examples of family cases illustrating many specificities of the phenomenon. It focuses on those punished with property sanctions, their descendants and heirs. This enables to carry-out a probe into many spheres of the then society, especially economic and social aspects can be researched. Financial issues survey ties both within families and among them, enable analyses of social status of wives, widows and orphans, mutual indebtedness and credit binds. Records of normative character offer opportunity to research the question of the continuity of law and to survey aspects of favouritism. Research will document various anti-confiscation and pro-restitutional strategies and the degree of adaptability of the pre-White Mountain nobility under new conditions. The project will be concluded with a monograph offering a new insight into a seemingly well-know historic era.
