Anotace anglicky

Our knowledge of the economy of the Great Moravian polity is primarily based on research into the relationship between the central places and their economic hinterland. Although there is a significant discrepancy in the volume and quality of information between the centres and the hinterland, we generally accept the hypothesis which assumes that centres with evidence of specialized production could in no way be self-sufficient and as such were surrounded by a system of settlements whose task it was to supply the centre with food, mostly cereals, in exchange for products from craftsmen’s workshops. The settlement structure established by previous excavations and prospection supports this hypothesis, although it does not refute the other hypothesis of the self-sufficiency of the centres. This is due to the fact that so far there have been no calculations made concerning the minimum energy requirements for the Great Moravian centres and their hinterland and the results then compared with the potential production of agricultural activities.

Grant byl uzavřen monografií "Břeclav-Pohansko VIII. Hospodářské zázemí centra nebo jen osady v blízkosti centra? (Muni Press Brno 2016)" v souladu s původním publikačním plánem. Publikační plán byl navíc překročen řadou odborných studií. Není tedy pochyb, že projekt lze dodatečně pokládat za úspěšně splněný.
