Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe – Participation of the Czech Republic

Anotace anglicky

SHARE-CZ is the Czech node of the large distributed pan-European research infrastructure SHARE-ERIC - Survey of Health, Ageing, and Retirement in Europe. Since 2004, LRI SHARE-ERIC has been collecting an international, multidisciplinary and longitudinal database of microdata on health, socioeconomic status, social and family ties and other topics of more than 140,000 people aged 50+ and their partners from 27 European countries and Israel (more than 530,000 interviews). The main topics include demographics, family and social ties; education; health and healthcare; work and retirement; income; consumption; assets; family assistance and financial transfers; housing; activity; expectations; life history; quality of life; physical and biomarker measures; last year of life of deceased respondents and a range of other topics. The result is a unique, freely accessible database providing information on the state, history and future development of Czech and European society. The SHARE-CZ LRI allows researchers and public administration to understand the consequences of demographic changes and to formulate optimal measures in the field of public spending, labour market, health or pension system. The main output of the project is longitudinal and internationally comparable data, allowing researchers to analyse and understand the interactions between dramatically changing demographic developments and government policies in individual countries and the EU as a whole. The data is available free of charge in open mode by registering on the project websites which also offer free methodological and scientific publications, data use guides, statistical procedures, examples of data use, software manuals and codes. Open access to LRI SHARE-ERIC data is not limited by topic, time or capacity.
