Failure Analysis 4.0 – Key for reliable electronic devices in smart mobility and industrial production
Anotace anglicky
FA4.0 focuses on the development of new equipment and methods for failure analysis, in particular providing excellent defect recognition capability and increased analysis efficiency. Special attention is paid to the use of emerging artificial intelligence capabilities in combination with the automation of protocols and tools during the defect analysis process, particularly • innovative devices and equipment for failure analysis • Integration of newly developed algorithms based on AI for image and signal analysis to increase tool performance • Improving failure analysis methodologies and throughput by interconnecting devices based on new hardware interfaces to streamline complex workflows • Improving failure analysis methodology and instrumentation efficiency by integrating centralized collection and correlation of diagnostic data and collating with data on electrical behavior and physical modeling • Providing holistic defect mode detection and cataloging, including correlation with available metrology and electrical test data The consortium from Germany, France and the Czech Republic, including semiconductor and electronic system suppliers such as Infineon, ST-Microelectronics and BOSCH, will work with three SMEs (Kern, Cybertechnologies, quality analysis), three medium-sized companies (PVATePla, Orsay Physics , TESCAN) as a supplier of failure analysis equipment. Other SMEs will work as associated partners including Kleindiek, a supplier of nanoprobing equipment, 3DMicromac, a supplier of laser sample preparation tools, and Jiaco a supplier of plasma decapsulation tools. This highly competent industrial consortium will be supported by four leading research institutes - Fraunhofer IMWS, the University of Stuttgart, the University of Saint-Etienne and Ecole Mines St. Etienne, which represent the highest level of failure analysis and artificial intelligence research.
