The molecular and cellular biology of direct somatic embryogenesis in alfalfa

Anotace anglicky

Project represents a multidisciplinary approach to investigation of molecular and cellular mechanisms controlling somatic embryogenesis. It is focused on the nature of embryonic competence and its expression after induction of embryo formation. Working hypothesis supposes that differences embryonic competence are closely related to differences in cell division competence and to the ability of cells to react to mitotic stimuli by cell proliferation. Using number of available molecular probes the the differences in cell compentences of selected alfalfa lines will be determined and mechanisms of cell asymetric division and molecular factors determining cell polarity will be characterised. With respect to the key role of plant hormones in control of cell division and differentiation functional relationsps of axuxin and cytokinin levels as well as activties of corresponding binding sites ("receptors") to induction and expression of somati
