Anotace anglicky

The aim of the project is to prepare a methodology for support of the freshwater pearl mussel as critically endangered species. Specific (sub)goals: (1) to prepare a methodology which will address: a) The principles of care and use of the basin with freshwater pearl mussel occurrence - identifying the key activities affecting the condition of the river basin (agriculture and forestry etc.) and the main environmental factors, assess their significance and determine the principles of the use of the river basin, b) Meadow management – a proposal and description of appropriate form of non-forest habitats care in the areas of food resources and optimization of natural food sources, c) Ensuring aliment supply - Verification of special interventions conducted to support species nutrition claims (determine the suitability of natural vs. artificial diet in early stages of freshwater pearl mussel in terms of its growth and survival), d) of the water regime restoration and erosion control measures - assessment of measures to restore small hydrographic network and support the distribution of aliment from springs and measures to reduce erosion in the watershed, determine the principles and specific procedures, e) Rearing - verification and description of the "Czech method" of semi-natural rearing (summer and winter version), animal hygiene requirements and solutions of problematic breeding stages with regard to minimize the option of using drugs, f) Bioindication - verification of the available methods and assessing their suitability in relation to habitat, the determination of used samples standardization and evaluation methods. A research of available data and experience will be conducted during the preparation of methodology and yet unproven approaches will be tested with scientific methods. The methodology will summarize the principles and procedures for each area.
