Scenarios of future development of the Dukovany nuclear power station´s microregion using Territorial Impact Assessment approach

Anotace anglicky

The closure of important regional employer causes the transformation of social and economic environment in the area and it has a fundamental impact on the quality of life of its residents. To consider such important changes is therefore required in decisions about the future development of the region, especially in spatial and strategic planning. The aim of the project is to develop methods and procedures to improve regional planning by inclusion of the effect of significant change in working of regional economic player. We use the general framework of Territorial Impact Assessment (TIA) for evaluation of the socio-economic impact of the extension or the closure of an important regional employer on the given area. The outcomes of the project include 19 specialized maps based on the results of field survey, analytical work, and the following synthesis in GIS. We will create new interactive software for visualization and presentation of maps to users. An important outcome is a methodology for assessing the development of the area after the closure or capacity extension of major employer. The methodology will be verified by study of socio-economic development of a catchment area of Dukovany nuclear power station. Four articles in professional journals including key results of the project are additional outcomes of the project. Eleven results (certified methodology, the first set of maps) will be realized in the first period of the project in 2014, another fourteen outcomes (second set of maps, professional articles and software) will be realized in the second period by the end of 2015.
