Frequent sources of non-linearities that are met during ground vibration tests of aircraft structures are free-plays that typically occur in systems of control surfaces and also in joints of stores suspended under aircraft wing or fuselage. This non-linearities belong to the category of aircraft modes of vibration whose experimental as well as analytical investigation demands intensive care connected with special technique. In the paper there are shown theoretical relations and several typical examplesfrom ground vibration tests of an aircraft.
