Finding the best position and flap angle of a slotted flap is usually possible by aerodynamic measurement in a wind tunnel or by means of optimization process using CFD. These approaches are used up to date. The grid of the position of the flap and dependence on the flap angle is measured or vast number of population is computed. This article deals with the qualitative description of what happens around the single slotted flap if the position or flap angle is changed. Special focus is on the slot. The CFD program STAR-CCM+ was used for all calculations. MS(1)0313 and MS(1)0317 airfoils with single slotted flap were used for this task. The first set of results were compared with aerodynamic coefficients obtained from wind tunnel measurements to find outthe differences between calculation and experiment (values of CLmax and character of the flow inside the slot were compared).
