Epoxy resins were modified and then reinforced by spherical fillers in order to obtain customizable gelcoat for composite moulds with required physical properties. Customizable gelcoat gives the possibility to prepare moulds for the aerospace industry in an easier, faster and cost-effective way with regard to commercial gelcoats. The viscosity of commonly used epoxy resins was modified by method developed by the authors. Shale or silicon carbide fillers with various grain were added to the modified epoxy resins. Prepared gelcoats with various filler concentrations were tested with regard to viscosity, filler sedimentation and brush applicability. Bending module and swelling capacity of cured plates made of prepared gelcoats were tested. Based on the obtained results gelcoat with properties similar to commercial gelcoats was successfully used to make a composite mould.
