Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Hopanes in PM10 Aerosols in Winter in Rural Areas of the Czech Republic
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Air pollution by benzo[a]pyrene is one of the main problems associated with ensuring air quality in the Czech Republic. The main source of air pollution in the small villages is domestic heating. Particularly dangerous are suspended particles and heavy metals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and other organic substances bound to them. We selected some markers that are proven to identify the burning of coal and wood. The concentrations of 13 PAHs, 6 hopanes and 6 steranes in PM10 aerosol samples were measured in 8 small villages of the Czech Republic with a population below 5000 inhabitants. The selection of sampling sites was carried out in accordance with the certified methodology. The locations were chosen to capture the anticipated air pollution in the village during the heating season with a minimal impact of car traffic or other large air pollution sources. Daily PM10 aerosol samples were collected on pre-fired quartz fiber filters.
