Comparison of CSI004 assessment results based on two different methods
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The annually calculated EEA’s core set indicator CSI004 called “Exceedance of air quality standards in urban areas” shows the percentage of the EU-28 urban population exposed to concentrations above both the EU limit or target values and the WHO AQGs, for PM10, PM2.5, ozone, NO2, SO2 and BaP, as well as the average concentrations and the 10 and 90 percentiles of the first four pollutants in the EU-28 urban background areas. Currently, the CSI004´s part on the urban population exposure above EU and WHO thresholds is assessed based on the concentrations observed at (sub)urban background and (sub)urban traffic stations and the CSI004´s part on the concentrations in the urban areas is assessed based on the concentrations observed at (sub)urban background stations. In this paper, an alternative methodology of the CSI004 assessment is examined, based on the interpolated data fused European maps, which are regularly calculated under the ETC on an annual basis. The two methodologies of the CSI004 assessment are compared. The CSI004 assessment using the proposed methodology based on the interpolated data fused maps for PM10, PM2.5, ozone and NO2 is calculated for both total and urban population. All calculations are done for five years 2013-2017.
