Growth of Scots pine stands in nutrient-poor sandy sites in connection with thinning
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
In the frame of the commercial tree species in the Czech Republic, Scots pine is practically only one which is usable for forestry management in nutrient-poor sandy sites in lowlands. Production of these stands is limited by climatic factors and nutrientcontent insoils. Scots pine stands are usually managed by clear-cutting system with relatively intensive soil preparation before planting. To find out the effect of thinning-from-above on pine stands, we evaluated three thinning experiments establishedin 1962 in Southern Moravia. Presented paper is focused on growth and development of differently thinned Scots pine stands during the 46-year period of observation (1962-2008).
