Evaluation of abiotic disturbance agents on Norway spruce mechanical stability in monocultures in Kocanda forest district
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Presented paper deals with windbreakages and their impact on forest stands of studied area represented by pure even-aged Norway spruce stands. The monitored area has been affected by wind, snow or rime damage for many decades. there are many different factors influencing how the specific forest stand is vulnerable or resistant to a possible threat. these stands have been under a long-term process of transformation since 1996; the effect of abiotic factors can be incorporated ito the forest stands´ transformation process. The most significant abiotic disturbance agent in observed forest stands was proved to be a strong wind. The extent and character of the windbreakages in investigated forest stands and parallelly to evaluate an occurrence, intensity and ways of effect of strong wind within examined area. The influence of the relief was significant within observed area and effected both volume of salvage fellings and the vulnerability of certain area, while we could not confirm significance of slope exposure and site conditions. Significant influence on damage was related with defferent age classes as well as the synergy effect between wind and snow cover.
