Small forest ownership in the Czech Republic – measures for sustainable management

  • Popis výsledku v původním jazyce

There many people who own forested private lands with areas ranging from 0,1 to 50 hectares, which totals more than 300 thousand hectares in Czechia. The others, who take care of areas between 50 and many-1000s hectars, represent ca one third of the total private forested areas. Their number is, however, incomparably lower than the small-forest ones. Simply summarised, the small owners represent not only larger land but these are also many more brains thinking of their property functions. However, these people differ in their approaches, and also their associations have not yet represented all issues the small owners need. To improve that, the project focusing on (i) proposals of management measures tailored to a type of forest estate, (ii) recommendations helping state authorities make decisions and (iii) proposals for subsidy policy adjustment began in 2021. The tool chosen to achieve the project objective is a direct transfer of knowledge and demonstration of recommendations to the stakeholders.
