Since almost 40 years ICP Forests programme monitors the interactive effects of air pollution, climate, site and stand factors on our forests under the UNECE Air Convention. This has resulted into a unique harmonized and standardized asset of long-term data, which allows scientists, stakeholders and policy makers to assess status, trends and functioning of European forest ecosystems in a changing environment. The goal of FORECOMON 2024 was to highlight the unique ICP Forests data series and to demonstrate how data are used to support the development of future monitoring activities in European forests. The conference covered 2 days 11. 6. – 12. 6. 2024 with 18 presentations, 33 posters and excursion to the Bohemian-Moravian highlands affected by the bark beetle outbreak in 2018-2022 with demonstration of an example of good practice of forest restoration on large-scale clearings and visit to the Želivka research facility. 91 participants from 21 countries took part at the meeting. The Conference was organized under the auspices of the Czech Ministers of Agriculture Marek Výborný and Environment Petr Hladík and financially supported by the Forests of the Czech Republic, state enterprise.
