Bark beetle infestation has decreased again in Czech forests and has fallen below the level of 2014. However, is the bark beetle disaster already behind us for good? Do we have appropriate procedures for afforestation of disaster areas? For the creation of more diverse and resilient forests? And how are forest owners coping with the current situation? These questions were addressed at the international conference Forests' Future, which was organized last week by the Forestry and Game Research Institute in cooperation with the International Union of Forestry Research Organizations (IUFRO) in Průhonice. The meeting was attended by 111 experts from 18 European countries, Canada and South Korea. The conference was held under the auspices of the Minister of Agriculture Marek Výborný.
