River connectivity as the predictor of reproduction success in 0+ communities.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The ecological status based on European Fish Index (EFI) using 0 + freshwater fish as indicator as well as proportion of ecological groups to overall fish species were examined to test a hypothesis of a linkage between the spatial distribution of longitudinal migration obstacles analysed by Geographical Information System (GIS) and river ecological status. 0 + fish - the summer distribution and abundance, were recorded over 2 subsequent years at 54 sites in running waters across the whole Czech Republicterritory. All analysed variables related to river connectivity using GIS (number of reservoirs - P < 0.024; number of other longitudinal obstacles - P < 0.0047, and total number of migration obstacles - P < 0.0039) have significant negative impact on the ecological status, as indicated by decline of EFI index (r2=0.67) in relation to the number of migration obstacles. Observed changes in species dominance, probability of rheophilic species showed an identical pattern.
