Gold- and silversmiths in Prague (c. 1300 – c. 1420)
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Gold- and silversmiths held an important position among Prague patricians; they were settled along the "Golden cross" between Prague Castle, Lesser Town square, the bridge over Vltava river and old Town square. They often traded with houses or their perpetual salaries. Some of them inhabited aristocratic palaces and played a key role in the Prague court culture of Luxembourg period. They were associated in the common Guild with similar craftsmen (such as jewelers, gem cutters, glassmakers or glaziers) at the Church devoted to Saint Martin (later Saint Eligius) in the Old Town od Prague. Rules of their guild order in addition to control of the quality of products and of the purity of precious metals contained health and social assurances of members and their families. The list of 154 masters with their biographical data, numbers of houses and information about the work is attached in annexe as well as the plan of gothic Prague with marking of researched houses.
