Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The book entitled Masters of 20th-Century Chinese Ink Painting from the Collections of the National Gallery in Prague introduces the collection housed in the National Gallery in Prague, which in terms of scope and quality ranks among the foremost European collections of its kind. The works of art entered Czechoslovak collections between the 1920s and 1960s as a result of the activity of Czech and Slovak collectors and specialists traveling to the Far East for various reasons. Besides summarizing the basic facts pertaining to the development of Chinese modern painting in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the authors elaborate on the history and process of formation of this unique collection, using thus far unexplored archival and historical sources. In another lengthy chapter, the reception of modern Chinese painting in the Czechoslovak art circles of the day is discussed, highlighting the influences of Chinese painting on the work of modern Czech and Slovak artists.
